Grande Orchards

Down by the Rio Grande is a charming valley that shelters a beautiful little farming community. I see it every year I am out in that area and always stop to take pictures and draw. I combined several visions of lovely lands along the rivers way to make up this scene. One of my favorite things are the beautiful Cottonwood trees that always grace the rivers edge. The beautiful patterns of foliage and scrub, erosion and meadows, make such pretty designs to contemplate. I also love the shapes of the topography in this part of the Southwest, the flat topped mesas and mountains carved from erosion. Tucked into this peaceful place is a bountiful orchard farm, spreading out in all directions. The winding river patterns twist back along the mountains heading for the sky country.
