The Bobcat enters the painting from the top, as an animal spirit into the garden. A Kachina is a spirit being in the southwestern Native American Pueblo cultures. One of the traditional Kachina’s has a costume with a hat that has black and white stripes as long pointed ears, like the bobcat. My style of painting is to use expressive color and gestural brushstrokes to create a mood and tell a story. The long strokes are expressions of the energy and movement of the spirit being moving into and through the world. I want to show that we are part of the place we inhabit, spiritually and physically. This painting is an oil on linen with one inch stretcher bars, wired for hanging on the back. A Roma black matte frame is available for $150.
