Running River, Running Fox
by Cathy Carey
This is the third painting of the Acequia Madre area off Canyon Road I've done. This area is very special to me, I love to walk there in the morning, and also in the early dusk. The neighborhood dates back to the 1750's. The area remains an ecosystem corridor for the migration and wanderings of fox, deer, coyote, bear and other wildlife that make their way down the mountain and sometimes all the way into town. Shown here is a happy fox dashing along the bank of the acequia. Bounding joy and spring are in his step as the bubbling water from the snow melt races past him. The grouping of ravens in the tree is the happy chattering community of onlookers I so enjoy when I am there. They are such a lively group, I wish I could understand what they are going on about!
