Stargazers

This is from another of the sketches I did while in Santa Fe over Christmas, working from reference photos taken by my friend Russell Oiring. This evening scene is of an apple orchard along the Rio Grande where a coyote mom and her cub have come out to enjoy the amazement of the whirling stars of the cosmos and the infinite beyond of the night sky. The season is spring with the white apple blossoms shimmering in the moonlight. I have memories of doing this as a child, and being filled with wonder and peace to feel the stars smiling down on me.
