Blue Jay Song of Spring

Another in the Matisse window series, which I base on colors, shapes and ideas I have observed in Matisse paintings. I loved the Matisse urn, featured in the foreground and built the painting around that. The patterned curtain and flower pots, and organic patterned shapes swirl with spring time frenzy in this secret garden tucked away between a house and garden shed. On the roof of the garden shed a blue jay sings a song of spring, calling all the windows and patio doors open to the warming sun and vibrant spring day! When I lived in Virginia the amazement of those first warm spring days were thrilling, and I will always remember that joy of bird song in the spring air.
